Hobart Underground's purpose is to expose as much of the ugly, the odd, the left
field, the un-PC, the PC, and any other category of any kind as it can. It is not
exclusive, but inclusive: if you want to be in it, you can. Underground means
underground - unexposed, unseen, buried, lost and stolen.
It is not about being
a club or a scene; it's about coming out of the dark, the closet, and the cellar.
It's about screening old things and new things. It's about asking what film and
vision are, what they can be and how far they can go.
The one bias is to display
the films of Tasmanians, although any and all participants are welcome, no matter
where in the world they come from. Hopefully, we can create a space where all kinds
of people who are into all kinds of film, vision and sound can meet each other,
create projects and argue endlessly about what it is that we are doing.
