UNDERGROUND FILM @ THE VENUE 19 August 2004, 9 PM
----------------- COST = $5 / $4 Conc. The Venue, Salamanca Place -----------------here's the flyer
THIS MONTH WE HAVE
The Winners
Bizarre and hilarious, this flash animated cartoon series by Hobart music legends the Brothers Cross
must be seen to be believed, although understanding it is another thing altogether. All the episodes that exist to date
will be screened, along with as many as five new episodes.
-----------------
Finger Lickin'
Our first film by an ex-pat. Jason James spent years struggling in Hobart theatre, then did what any
smart person does: he buggered off to Sydney, and finally got into film making. This ultra-short film is totally disgusting,
and is best understood by people who drink a lot. This unmissable corker will be screened LATE in the evening.
-----------------
The Comics Documentary
No, that's not the title. I don't know what it's called in truth. I do know it's about local comics creators
Michael Hawkins and Simon James, and it was made by Al Machin, and it's pretty cool.
-----------------
Film/Noise Performance by 'I Made A Periscope'
A self-sampling trio of legendary Hobart losers will improvise a live noise soundtrack to a cut-up Super 8 vision
created by Ben Crothers, muso, radio jock, and most importantly, a local Super 8 wiz. Ben's made a weird collage from all his test
reels and found footage; it needed a soundtrack and you will see this all happen right in front of you, and you will feel the pyschic
effects for many weeks afterwards.
-----------------
Dogshit on my Shoe
Film clip for ex-Hobart, now-Melbourne's, Legends Of Motorsport, made by Matt Ward. This features incredible
cab-driving heads, Matt's mum and lots of cars, and is worth checking out as it was edited together using two video recorders.
Matt is the bass player for Hobart trio The Kicks and is making films at the School Of Art as i type this.
-----------------
Other Stuff
There might be a film about meat, there could be another short by Colin Henry Jr, and there's a distinct possibility that
TIGER FORCE might get screened. Tiger Force, from the mind of Simon James, is a disgraceful series whose cast consists of ridiculous plastic
toys on strings leaping about whilst voices mumble total obscenity that bears faint resemblance to a script. Hilarious and depraved.

DJ FUN
MUSIC on the night by SLIMEY BROWN, with visuals by Joseph Barrows
